The 2002 Growing Season

The 2002 growing season was ideal for vines, with an appropriate quantity of rain in the spring and a hot dry summer to follow.  In some parcels the vines were too vigorous, thus in these parcels a green harvest was conducted during the month of July.

During the harvest period, which ranged from the 27th August to the 8th of October, the weather was closely monitored.  Luckily the Domaine was not affected by the storms and flooding that devastated other areas of the Languedoc.

Domaine Sainte Rose used a combination of machine and hand-picking to harvest the grapes.

1. 2002 Chardonnay harvest began on the 27th of August.

2. 2002 Alicante harvest began on the 8th of September.

3. 2002 Roussanne harvest began on the 11th of September.

4. 2002 Merlot harvest began on the 13th of September.

5. 2002 Grenache harvest began on the 23rd of September.

6. 2002 Syrah harvest began on the 27th of September.

7. 2002 Carignan harvest began on the 8th of October.

8. 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon harvest began on the 8th of October.
